It takes a lot to keep the magic of OlyKraut happening. As the cabbage is chopped and kraut is jarred in the kitchen, Nein, and furry pal Snag, keep things moving along in the OlyKraut office. Nein is OlyKraut’s office manager/executive assistant, and server of the crew’s daily brine shots, but really she does a little bit of everything. She was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and loves the abundance of plant life in this area. Nein enjoys working outside and values a healthy local food system so it was no surprise when in 2005 she began an apprenticeship on Hogsback Farm for a season. After working on multiple farms, Nein and her friend Johnny decided to start a small farm together in the Olympia area, which is also when she started working at OlyKraut, first as the kitchen manager. Nein has been with the company for 3 years and has built a strong bond with the rest of the OlyKraut crew. She believes that the workplace at OlyKraut is a safe, supportive environment with room for both growth and mistakes. She loves that OlyKraut is a women-owned business, in which people raise each other up and share skills with one another. Nein has learned how to manage sales, inventory, and basic bookkeeping, something she may not have learned if it weren’t for OlyKraut. She is happy to be working within such a community. 

And as for Snag, well he’s happy as long as he has a ball to fetch every now and then.
